Attire

Black-Tie Optional

We have received several questions about what to wear, so here is a useful explanation of this otherwise vague dress code. In summary, it means mid- to floor-length dresses for women and a formal suit (tuxedo optional) for men. However, we very much welcome a comparable level of formal dress from different cultures, such as the Barong Tagalog worn by men in the Philippines.

Church-Appropriate

Our wedding ceremony will be a Catholic Nuptial Mass, so we kindly request that all attire be appropriate for what Catholics consider the highest form of worship.

Colors

While it is customary in certain countries like the Philippines to wear the colors worn by the bridal party, you are all more than welcome to wear whatever color you like!

Weather Considerations

In August, Santa Barbara has an average high temperature of 77°F (25°C) and a low of 60°F (16°C). Our dinner reception will be in an outdoor plaza across the street from the beach, and while we will have outdoor heaters, we recommend that ladies bring shawls in case it grows chilly in the evening.
